Meghalaya Dy. CM Prestone Tynsong says NPP will contest Mizoram polls 1

Aizawl Sept. 17, 2018: National People’s Party national vice president Prestone Tynsong said his party would contest the coming Mizoram assembly polls.

Tynsong who made an impromptu visit to the sacked Congress vice president R Lalzirliana said he could not ascertain as to how many seats his party would contest, but made it clear that his party would make a run for the coming Mizoram polls tentatively slated for later this year.

Replying to question whether the resigned home minister of Mizoram R Lalzirliana would head the party, Tynsong said nothing could be made official as of now.

“R Lalzirliana is a seasoned politician, he will make a wise decision, I’m sure. The NPP will establish its presence in Mizoram soon, we have just appointed the former president of Mizoram’s elite NGO – the Central YMA, Lianzuala as our party convener, he will soon take up initiatives,” the veteran NPP leader said.

On referring to the earlier meetings between R Lalzirliana and Conrad Sangma, Prestone Tynsong said he was not aware of it. “Conrad and James Sangma might have met him, I don’t know what their subjects were, mine’s a courtesy visit,” Prestone said.

“The primary objective of the party as of now is to establish itself in Mizoram, we are open to dialogue with any other party, the core committee of Mizoram which we had formed recently will take up things, I will also come again soon, so will Mr Conrad,” Prestone added.

The NPP senior leader and national vice president Prestone also said that his party would seek post poll alliance and would be willing to work with any local parties of Mizoram should election results be a fractured mandate.
