Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan was on appointed as the Governor of Mizoram on Friday, the appointment was communicated by the secretary to the President of India today.
The order appointing him as the Governor of the state was communicated to the media through a press release from the secretary to the President of India.
The incumbent Mizoram Governor Nirbhay Sharma’s term ends on May 28.
Kummanam Rajasekharan is currently the President of BJP in Kerala, 65 years old Kummanam Rajasekharan began his political career as an RSS member, he was actively involved with Hindu Aikyavedi and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. He was in 2015 appointed as the head of Kerala BJP.
A new political party in Mizoram Prism today issued a strong press statement saying that the party did not accpet the former RSS leader stating that it would pose a threat to the majority Christian population of the state.
“The newly appointed Governor is the present Kerala BJP president, he still plays a very active role in party politics, a political appointment when Mizoram polls just around the corner cannot be accepte by our party,” Prism statement read.
